Run and Hide v0.5
What use is it?
Run&Hide will open and hide an application.
When Run&Hide opens your application, it can Start/Hide/Minimise/Maximise/Show/Close and will get a handy (mousey?) tray-icon.
Why?
Because not every application needs to be seen all the time.
How does it work?
Method One:
Open RunHide.exe, then locate your application in the file-select dialogue, then type some of the titlebar-text (normally seen in the titlebar of your application) into the subsequent dialogue-box.
Method Two:
Make a shortcut pointing to RunHide and append some command-line options like so:
[path]RunHide.exe [yourApplication[ titlebar-text[ action]]]
Examples:
...C:\Progra~1\Tools\WinSys\Run\RunHide.exe C:\Progra~1\Tools\Comms\BITWARE\BFRECV.EXE hide
..."C:\Program Files\Tools\WinSys\Run\RunHide.exe" "C:\Program Files\Tools\Desktop\IconEx.exe" "Icon" hide
Also
Run&Hide also uses a settings file (below) which lives in the same folder as Runhide.exe. It collects pairs of data (titlebar-text and path\app.exe), which are later checked before asking the user. It's not bullet-proof, but helps cut keystrokes. You can edit the RunnHide.ini file, and probably should from time-to-time. Just clear all the data under [history] to start afresh.
RunHide.ini
[options]
TimeToOpen=8 ; This is how long to wait for app to get up and running.
TimeSinceOpen=800000 ; This is how long to wait after boot-up, very useful when using RunHide at startup.
